NewsHawker 1.0.0b3 Available

NewsHawker 1.0.0b3 is now available. The major new feature is support for the Apple Remote. This integration must be explicitly enabled in the preferences. Note that NewsHawker will only “listen” to the Apple Remote when it is the front-most application. This allows you to continue to use the remote in the standard manner when NewsHawker is not the front-most application.

I also tweaked the UI by removing the stop button and updating the icons. The resulting UI is cleaner, maps better to the Apple Remote, and is hopefully less confusing. The stop behavior is still available via the Controls menu or the Command-period key combination.

Those who are trying the latest development version of NetNewsWire (3.0d46) have most likely noticed that NewsHawker no longer reads the body of the news item but, rather, reads the headline twice. This issue has been fixed and should work in the next release of NetNewsWire.

Depending on the feedback on this beta, this may be the last beta before the commercial launch. As always, if you do have any feedback, please send your comments to !
